Top Ten Favorite Films of 2021

Happy Oscar Day!   Here we are again!   Even after all we’ve been through as a society, I still love the Oscars, and I still love movies, and I still like making my Top Ten Favorite Films of the Year List. But before you get into it, I want to remind you that I often like trash movies lol!   You’ll see.   The older I get the more I tend to listen to my heart and choose movies that I personally enjoyed, even though most critics (or people with good taste for that matter) would disagree with me.   So without further adieu!   10. Don’t Look Up   LEEEOOOOOO!!!   Leo is always so good!   I couldn’t wait to see Leo in this movie, and he did not disappoint – I mean, he never does!   I loved his performance as the awkward, dorky, sweaty scientist trying to warn the world that the planet is doomed.   I also loved Jennifer Lawrence’s performance, and of course Meryl is always great.   But d...

Top Eleven Favorite Films of 2020

Happy Oscar Day!!   What can I say about 2020 that hasn't already been said?  I've been collecting my movie ticket stubs since I've been going to the movies, and at the end of the year, I spread them out and use them to help compose my top ten favorite films list.  This is the first time in probably thirty something years that I have zero movie ticket stubs at the end of the year.   You may have noticed that this is not a top ten list, but a top eleven.  I figured, 2020 was so bat shit crazy, that all rules and tradition should be thrown out the window!  So I give you eleven of my favorite movies from 2020. 11. Lovers Rock  This is the second film in Steve McQueen's Small Axe film series on Amazon Prime.  Unfortunately, due to time constraints, I was only able to watch the first two films in the series, but I'm glad I at least got that far.  To be honest, this movie is the reason why I made this list a top eleven list, instead of ten.  I...

Top Ten Favorite Films of 2019

Happy Oscar Day!! Before we get started, you may have noticed that I did not write a Top Ten Least Favorite Films this year.   Mostly because I’m lazy.   But I will go ahead and tell you that the worst film I saw this year was surprisingly NOT Cats (I actually enjoyed myself watching Cats lol) but X-Men: Dark Phoenix.   It saddens me to see how far the X-Men films have fallen.   I love the X-Men movies, but they really went downhill after Days of Future Past, and now they’re just awful.   Makes me sad. Anyway, let’s move on to the good movies, shall we?   Disappointingly, I’m not super excited about the crop of Oscar films this year.   Not only because yes, admittedly, because they’re super white, but also because I feel like a lot of them aren’t that exciting or innovative.   Maybe in general I feel like films from 2019 weren’t that amazing.   It was an average year to put it mildly.   Having said that, ther...
